"Director John Andrews conducted with flair, compelling the choir to give of its best
and he introduced each item in an illuminating and erudite way."
Neil Buick, Harpenden advertiser, 11 November 2007
John is passionate about bringing music to the next generation of concertgoers. He gives workshops for children introducing them to the instruments of the orchestra, to singing in parts, and to playing percussion with an orchestra. He frequently gives narrated Family Concerts introducing different types of pieces to audiences of all ages and backgrounds. He recently conducted THAMES Youth Orchestra at the Spitalfields Festival, and pupils at St James', Newham in two newly-devised pieces for the Water City Festival. He made his debut with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in an outdoor performance of Saint Saens' The Carnival of the Animals in Leicester Square narrated by the CBBC presenter Justin Fletcher. Here he not only conducted the orchestra, but also engaged the children in some characteristic animal actions.
